Our doctors have a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment which we use to provide optimal wellness care for your pet and to provide immediate diagnostic care when your pet becomes ill.  Just some of the equipment we use includes:

BLOOD CHEMISTRY ANALYZERS - We have three separate analyzers on-site to perform important blood tests on your pet such as electrolyte evaluation, blood count analysis, and liver and kidney function.  By having this equipment on-site, we are able to quickly and accurately diagnose your pet's condition when they become ill without losing valuable time waiting for test results.

BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORS: We have both digital and Doppler equipment to help assess your pets blood pressure.  These monitors are helpful in determining whether your pet is suffering from high blood pressure (hypertension) as well as in general wellness screening.  Our blood pressure equipment is also used in anesthetic monitoring and diagnostically in evaluating a patient in shock.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY (EKG):  We use our digital EKG unit diagnostically to assess the heart when a murmur is present or when an abnormal heart rate or rhythm is detected on our physical exam.  Like blood pressure, the EKG  is also useful in general health screening, especially for our senior patients, as well as for anesthetic monitoring.

RADIOLOGY:  X-rays are an important diagnostic tool for many common conditions we see in practice such as fractures, vomiting, and breathing difficulties. Our hospital x-ray machine is able to take internal pictures of anything our doctors need.  Once again, because this equipment is on-site, we are able to take and interpret x-rays in a very short amount of time!  Afterwards, all of our films are evaluated by board certified radiology specialists for an experts opinion.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY:  Ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique that allows us to look inside the organs of the abdomen or chest such as the liver, kidneys, heart or spleen.  The procedure is safe and comfortable for your pet and can provide important information in diagnosing difficult cases.  We utilize the services of board certified specialists from Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (VDIC) to perform and interpret your pet's ultrasound examination in our hospital.  This not only allows for your convenience, but more importantly ensures an accurate and immediate diagnosis for your pet.  This safe and comfortable procedure typically does not require sedation unless a biopsy is needed.  If a biopsy is required, we are able to safely obtain tissue samples using the ultrasound as a guide.

TONOMETRY -The TONOPEN instrument accurately evaluates eye pressure and is used both as a screening tool and diagnostically to assess for glaucoma in your pet.
